Y'all know who he is, right? Well, let me do a little rundown for the benefit of anyone who doesn't. Cletus Ibeto is a businessman from the industrial city of Nnewi in Anambra State. He heads The Ibeto group of companies and is said to be among the top fifty richest men in Nigeria(Big shot, huh?) Now that should do! Okay let me also add that the man is a big philanthropist (I should know, I hail from the same community as him. And no, I'm not *famzing*lol). He distributes food item to widows occasionally and single-handedly built for his community what is perhaps the most beautiful catholic church the East of niger, complete with a 1,300 capacity Auditorium and a Parish house.
You are wondering what then my problem is, aren't you? Alright here I go! Before Ibeto erected this 'beautiful' edifice, our parish was called St. David's. It ceased being called by this name after he took over the construction of the church from the shaky hands of old parishioners who weren't really making any headway building the church. The parish was rechristened St. Cletus after him, errm pardon me, his patron saint. I was later to find out that was the condition he gave before he took over building of the church. And the church agreed!
Like that wasn't enough, after the church had been built and dedicated, a special seat placed directly opposite the alter in the foremost part of the church was set aside for him and his family. No other person was allowed to sit on this 'special' sit. Anyone who dared got the embarrassment of his/her life from the church wardens. This arrangement was however put to a stop after the parish got a new administrator.
So, some two years ago, our man came to church, oh yes, a catholic church and announced he was divorcing his wife of many years!(Say what!) Well, he didn't tell us what his reason was and I haven't stopped wondering. But knowing the teachings of The Church and her stand on divorce, it came as a rude shock that an annulment would be granted so soon and so easily. Even more shocking was the fact that a few weeks ago, Le man proudly walked down the aisle and was joined in holy matrimony to his new wife by a priest of the catholic church! Amazement!
As u don talk am. I hear you. For me , there is no big deal. HIs tithe and Offerings makes like 70 percent of the church's income. Money talks dear!!! Oseeeee. Fileeeeeee!!! Dont get it twisted!!!
ReplyDeleteWonders shall never seize!!! His tithe and offerings makes like 70 percent and so what huh? This is a church issue and catholic @dat.. There are doctrines and rules stipulated, from wot I know I think they deviated from wot hv been originally postulated for catholic doctrine. Things are really falling apart...

ReplyDeleteAt least he had †ђξ decency to divorce his first wife b4 moving on with his new wife. †ђξ first wife should go Α̲̅Ω̴̩̩̩̥d̶̲̥̅̊ thank God that she was freed from a life of constant rejection & misery. As Fø̲̣̣я̅ †ђξ roman catholic church & other churches, i Å̶̷̩̥͡•̸♏ Ω̶̣̣̥̇̊oτ̣̣̥ disappointed @ all. †ђξ priests & pastors are human beings who can always be bought over by †ђξ highest bidder. Ȋ̝̊̅† is Ω̶̣̣̥̇̊oτ̣̣̥ everyone who wears †ђξ priestly robe, calls himself a priest or pastor, went to †ђξ seminary or school of theology that was/is called by God.
